Since 1988 Ronnie Mack has marshaled forward the California roots scene with his legendary Barn Dance. In the early years it was a weekly event and the watering hole was the World Famous Palomino. Ronnie's gracious hosting ranged from newcomers and future grammy winner Lucinda Williams to pioneers like the Collins Kids and the beloved Janis Martin. After the closing of the Palomino, the Barn Dance was reborn at Jack's Sugar Shack on the infamous corner of Hollywood and Vine. The Barn Dance nites became a celebration for musicians. Connie Smith, Robert Reynolds, Bruce Springsteen, and Bob Woodruff were not uncommon in the audience or on stage! When Jack's sadly burned down the unstoppable scene moved to Crazy Jack's in Burbank and became a monthly event. When that venue was sold, the event moved to the El Cid in Hollywood. Ronnie Mack's Legendary Barndance has now returned to the former Crazy Jack's location in Burbank- JOE's GREAT AMERICAN BAR & GRILL 4311 W. Magnolia Blvd Burbank 91505, on Magnolia, between Cahuenga Blvd and Pass Ave.
The Dean Mora Quintet + Collegiate Shag contest! Dean Mora's new ensemble return to Joe's for some Swing in the style of the Benny Goodman and Artie Shaw small groups of the 1930's and 1940's!
